The Essential Guide to Obtaining a D1 Licence

Category D1 licence permits people to drive vehicles of between 9 to 16 seats. If you clear the test before 1st January 1997 you will certainly have Category D1 on your licence. But if you cleared this exam after this date. you must apply to have D1 added to your license. To obtain a D1 licence a couple of things you need. 

Fill out the D2 application form and send it to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).

  • Fill D4 form for the medical test.
  • After submitting the forms you receive your provisional licence within 2-3 weeks. 
  • The next step is theory and practical tests. 

Once you passed D1 practical test. You will get a Category D1 on your driving licence.
