The steps to get a 7.5 ton ambulance licence is similar to any HGV licence. After you complete your 7.5 ton ambulance training, you need to request D2 and D4 forms from DVLA. You need to get these forms filled out by a doctor and submit them back to the DVLA with your car licence and photograph. Now you have to book your theory test after getting your provisional licence. The theory test is divided into two parts. The multiple choice questions and hazard perception. After this, you need to give your physical driving test. Once you clear this, you can drive the C1 ambulance. You do not need a certificate of professional competence to drive an ambulance.
